Kobe Cherry Blossom Afternoon Walk and Picnic

Saturday 30^th March – 1 star

We are going to do an easy walk to explore some special places for Cherry Blossom viewing in the Kobe neighbourhood.

You are welcome to join or leave the event at any point.

The hike will start at Hanshin Oishi station and follow the cherry blossoms along the Togagawa river up to Gokoku Jinja in Rokko.

After a picnic under the cherry trees at Gokoku Jinja, we’ll walk across to the famous cherry blossom tunnel near Maya Cable.

After that we’ll head over to Ojikoen Park, host to 700 cherry trees and from 18:00 will be able to go into Oji Zoo for free to see the floodlit cherry blossoms.

Children are also welcome, so long as they are accompanied by a guardian, but please confirm with Estella in advance.

Meeting: Hanshin Oishi station (on the Kobe/Osaka line) at 14:00

Finish: Hankyu Ojikoen station (or JR Nada station) at 19:00

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for walking (hiking boots are not essential) Please bring rainwear, a groundsheet, drinks, some snacks to share and eating utensils, plate and cup, camera (optional)

Weather: The walk will go ahead even in the rain, so long as the rain is not heavy.

At present the weather forecast is for the weather to improve late afternoon/evening.

In which case, you may prefer to join us a little later in the day.

It is necessary to sign up in advance for this walk, by sending an email to Estella by Friday night (29^th March) with the following information:

1) Your full name.

2) Mobile telephone number and any other non-WiFi means of contact.

3) Number of people (including names and ages of any children).

4) Any special information, especially concerning arrival and leaving times (these may be changed on Saturday according to the weather)
