We are currently uploading pictures from all past events. Events from 2011 are now well represented with 18 folders while other years are much less. We need your help to make IOC website look better.
Anyone having participated in any IOC event and taken pictures is asked for contribution. Please send us any picture you are willing to share.
■ How to share pictures
For convenience sake I recommend you share your picture via dropbox as it offers most flexibility (contact the webmaster for more information), after having resized them to a practical size (no more than 1 MB). However if you do not know how to resize the pictures it is not extremely problematic (it will just take more time for the person who uploads everything)
■ What if I don't want to use dropbox
If you do not like dropbox, there is the option to publish pictures already present on picasa. This offers much less flexibility as all pictures present in a given folder are to be published on IOC website. Please contact the webmaster if you opt for this alternative of if you prefer even other means (shipping of a CD etc.)
■ Do not share pictures via e-mail
I would like to stress that I do not wish to receive any picture via email, so please refrain for trying. The reason is that it is so time consuming and inconvenient. I will simply ignore pictures sent by mail.
■ How to use and name folders
Now about the data specifically, put pictures corresponding to one event in one folder (don't mix events in the same folder). Name the folder as follows: YEAR-MONTH-EVENT_NAME. For example 2011-11-Shodoshima. This way I will be able to link the pictures correctly.
■ Sorting pictures
As a general rule I will sort the files and publish between 10 to 50 pictures per day. It will depend on many things. To this end I will appreciate if you could sort pictures out (for instance discard duplicates, blurred pictures etc) before sharing them, that would save me a lot of time.
■ Privacy matters
Finally, the pictures you will send will be accessible to members only and visible upon login (other internet users will only be able to access a small selection of pictures)
