The idea is to enjoy the ridge around Hourai-san starting from the ski
resort Biwako Valley. If the weather is fine, we should get a great view.
Transport Details: 7:30 Meeting Point JR Osaka Platform 8 on the front (Car No 1)
7:45 JR Special Rapid Service (arrival 8:14 Kyoto Platform 2)
8:17 JR Kosei Line Platform 3 (arrival Shiga 8:56)
9:02 Bus (arrival Valley Gondola 9:17)
Take the next Gondola to the ski resort.
Budget: 2560 yen JR return ticket from Osaka
1800 yen return ticket for the gondola
Hiking Plan: Elevation along the ridge about 200 m, map time 4 h
gondola station Uchimi-yama(top and start) 9:30 -> Hourai-san10:30
-> Kojyorotouge 11:15 -> Kojorougaike 11:30 (lunch 30 min) -> Hourai-san 13:00
-> Gondola Station Uchimi-yama (top) 14:00 -> take the gondola down
Requirements:
snowshoes, crampons, walking sticks, gaiters, warm and waterproof clothes,
hiking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, hot beverage, lunch…
Cancellation Conditions:
The hike will be cancelled at 40% chance of rain/snow.
Additional Information:
This hike is quite short and easy but, as it is the first time organizing a snowshoes event,
I am limiting the number of participants to very few.
