IOC Autumn Hike and Barbecue, Oct. 17th
Hi,this is an update on the IOC Autumn HIke and Barbecue. Please read the following information if you already signed up or want to sign up (until October 10th, please):
- First and important: due to some complaints we decided to NOT buy drinks for you. Please bring your own drinks and food for you/to share. Because of this, there will be no fee for members for this event. IOC sponsors the expenses for the grills etc. Non-members are required to pay 500 Yen.
- Meeting at 10am at Keihan Uji station. At this time, Junko will wait with her car (and a big cooler) at the station so that you can put your stuff in there and don't have to take it on the hike. Space is limited, so: first come, first serve!
- At 11:30am we will pick up those who do not want to visit the Byodo-in temple, again at Keihan Uji station.
Everything else is as announced previously, see below.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Dominikus

Original posting: Hi all!
As announced at the last IOC meeting, we will have a special hike and BBQ event instead of the regular club meeting in October.
This is the schedule, please send email to Dominikus until October 10th if you want to participate.
- Meeting at 10am at Uji Keihan for visiting the temples and the touristy stuff. People who want to skip this and join the hike can meet us 1.5h later, 11:30am (meeting place will be announced later).
Hiking from 11:30am to about 14:30am, with a nice BBQ afterwards at the end of the hike (close to Uji Keihan). There we will have a car loaded with grills and drinks.
Food is up to you - we ask you to bring your favourite food (barbecue stuff, salads, etc.) to share with the other hikers. IOC will only organize drinks, charcoal and grills for this event.
Please also bring a bowl, plate, cup and cutleries. If you have any good ideas for games, be sure to organize it beforehand with Dominikus.
Costs: Transportation to Uji Keijan plus the food you decide to bring and the entrance fee to Byodo-in temple (appr. 600Yen), plus a charge of max. 1000 Yen (members) and max. 2000 Yen (non-members) for drinks, charcoal etc. - the precise amount will be calculated on Oct. 17th.
Remark: In case of bad weather, we might have to shift the hike to one day later, October 18th.
