Kyoto Cycling, Apr. 1st (Sun)

Hi,

I plan to have a cycling event in Kyoto. I think we can enjoy the ancient capital with cherry blossom in full bloom.

Don't have a bicycle? Don't worry, me neither. I plan to rent
a bike. It costs 1000 - 2000 yen per a day, depending on a bike.

We will meet at JR kyoto station at 10:00.

Actually I don't have any specific plan where to visit. If you
know good places, please give me a suggestion.

Cherry blossom special event in Yoshino, April 7th and 8th

This year's Special Hanami Cherry blossom event will be in Yoshino, Nara - Japan's number one spot for Sakura!

The dates are Saturday April 7th and Sunday April 8th.
We'll have three groups.

1, day hiking
2, hiking and camping
Lisa and Yuri will lead the hike.
3, cycling and stay at cottage (kirara-no-mori)

2.hikers and campers,
Please sign up with Rie James by April 3rd. We'll camp at Yoshino river and cook curry rice together with the IOC's huge pot  and rice cooker. If you need to borrow an IOC tent, please contact the equipment coordinator, Koji

Bring: tent, sleeping bag, towel kit, mattress, rain gear and hiking shoes, plate, cup, spoon, fork, torch, warm clothes in case (the night might be cold), potluck food, breakfast for Sunday and drinks.

3, cyclists
Please sign up to Koji by April 3rd. Koji will make areservation at the cottage for you. Koji will send you the details.
cost; approximately 3,000yen per person.
      the dinner(pot)ingredients is 2000yen per person.

If you come to Yoshino by car and want to stay at the cottage, please contact Koji. It's very strict/impossible to park around Yoshino during cherry blossom season. You need to check the information with Yoshino town HP.

Sakura Cycling and Hiking, Omi Hachiman, Shiga April 15

Hey everyone,

Come and cycle along the Yosibe Rd from OmiHachiman,
through Azuchi (where I live!) to Notogawa. The road is flat, easy cycling that passes by the sakura lined Shiratori River, part of Biwako and other beautiful areas of Shiga
countryside. We'll make a detour to visit the historic part of Hachiman and stop along the way and hike either Hachiman mountain or Chomeiji, or both.

If you don't have a bike, you can hire a mama-chari in OmiHachiman for about 500yen.

Bring: a bike (or hire one in Hachiman), lunch and drink.

When you sign up, please let me know if you want to hire a bike so that I can arrange to have enough in advance.

Mt. Ibuki (Ibukiyama) hike in Shiga , April 28th

Pavan and I will be hiking Mt. Ibuki on Saturday. Anyone interested is welcome to join us. The details are given above. You can just turn up at the meeting place or send me an email before hand so I know whom to expect.

The students come from the Semester At Sea in USA.
They circumnavigate all over the world during studying on the ship. The one
of the destinations is Kobe. About 20 students participate in the hike.
