2007-03-03 09:00:00 - 2007-03-03 20:00:00 | Hiking *1/2Day Hike, Suma Alps, Mar. 3rd
Day Hike, Suma Alps, March 3rdSuma Alps is in the west part of Kobe. As shown by the
name, you can enjoy an Alps like rocky mountain.
We will start from the JR Sioya station at 11:00am.
Climb up to Hatafuri-yama where you can enjoy
a great view of the Akashi bridge. On the top of the mountain
there is a plum-grove park. Since it's in season,
I think you can enjoy a fragrant of plum flowers there.
After that we will head for the Suma Alps.
Since there are some ups and downs with slippery rocks, it is
a 1.5 stars event.
Bring: lunch and rain gear.
When you join, Please let me know. I may change the plan.
Cheers,
Yoshimi

Hike, Charity Swim at Lake Biwako, and Overnight Minshuku Stay!
Title : Hike, Charity Swim at Lake Biwako, and Overnight Minshuku Stay!Message :
Short Hike, Charity Polar Bear Swim at Lake Biwako, and Overnight Stay at Kihachi Minshuku March 17th!
Hi All,
This event will start Saturday morning with a short hike around the Hira area of Biwako (we haven't decided where yet), perhaps with some snow games, like sledding (sliding). Then in the afternoon we'll go to Omimaiko, on lake Biwako. Those of us who are brave enough to swim will take a Polar bear・swim in the lake! Then we'll warm up with dinner and stay the night at Kihachi Minshuku, which is right there on the beach. In the morning we can relax with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view, then perhaps go for another swim and or go for another short hike or play in the snow.
The Polar Bear Swim is a charity event. The swimmers will raise money for the international NGO The Nature Conservancy. People who don't want to swim but want to support their swimming friends can sponsor swimmers. Sponsors should also indicate the maximum that they are willing to pay. If you want more information about how it works, or you want to get some sponsors, send me an email (ichifish@gmail.com) and I'll send you the information and the sponsorship form. Junko (junko_a76@hotmail.com) can give an explanation in Japanese if this sounds just too crazy to believe.
The minshuku has a great reputation among IOC members, and they grow their own organic vegetables, so I bet dinner will be delicious. Vegetarian meals available, too! If we can get 10 people to stay we'll get a great deal, too -just 5,000 yen for dinner and the stay.
Everyone is welcome to join any or all parts of the event: the hike, the swim, staying at the minshuku, joining us on Sunday, etc. For example, you can come for the hike and swim, then go home, or you can come for the swim and the overnight.
Our brave swimmers so far, Lisa, Will, Junko and I- will need lots support, so we hope you'll come out to cheer us on and have some fun! Of course, if you're really tough, you'll join us for the swim!

Shimane Pref.on Mar. 24th and 25th
Lance will pick you up by his car from Kobe to Shimane. At the moment two seats left.
I hope some of you'll join the event.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I m going to have an event in Shimane Pref.on 24th and 25th. We will stay in a cottage on 24th night (if its fine day, the sky is like a planetarium. And the night view is very nice from the cottage), or you will be able to stay in a tent.
Im thinking to have some activity (ie: mountain bike, tennis, goes to spa or BBQ under the cherry blossoms trees)
The course of mountain bike is super easy one; therefore for beginners, dont be hesitating! For people who dont have your own bike, you can rent it with helmet. It costs only 300yen. (Quality is .I really enjoyed with it. If you have your own one, youd better to bring yours ;) About tennis, you can rent racket and ball also.
In case, if it rainy day, Im thinking to go to an art gallery or sight seeing around this area. And I comply with your request.
There is some way to get here. You can come there by coach, train or airplane.
I will pick you up in Izumo city station. If you will join this event, I will send you more details.
I will rent a car then I will take all of you to the forest park.
6 people are the maximum, now 4 seats left.
I'll cancel this event if the number of people less than
4people including me.
About the cost, it depends on how many people are coming or how will you get here though, roughly it costs about 20000 - 30000 yen in all.( in case you come by coach)
The application dead line is 13th of March.
Thank you.
