Akiyoshi-Dai and Hagi Cycling on Nov.2-5th

The rolling Akiyoshi-Dai tablelands are about halfway between Yamaguchi city and Hagi
on the nourthen San-in coast. The green fields are dotted with curious rock spires
and beneath this picturesque plateau are hundreds of limestone caverns.

Hagi has an interesting combination of temple and shrines. a fascinating old samurai
quarter. some picturesque castle ruins and fine coastal views.

Came to join me and enjoy three days weekend.
Thursday night drive to Akiyoshi-Dai(600Km) Cycle around Akiyoshi-Dai on friday
that is national holiday. Head to Hagi on saturday cycling coastal views.
Akiyoshi-Dai minshuku 7000yen, Hagi minshuku also. Tranport covered with my car
include four bikes 9000yen.
If you do not have bike and craving join, I can plan rental bike at Akiyoshi-Dai
and Hagi. Two stars.

Nov.3rd(fri) wake up on the way SA in Chugoku-Highway.
Arrive to Akiyoshi-Dai minshuku, set up bike and cycle to cave Akiyoshi-Dou
admission 1200yen. Kagekiyo-Dou 1000yen.
Nov.4th(sat) Arrive to Hagi minshuku, ser up bike and cycle to coastal views
Oumi island.
Nov.5th(san) Drive to Osaka. watch the SL Yamaguchi running on the way.

Rokko hike Nov, 5th

Hi all,

Here's another Rokko hike. Why don't you enjoy a day hike with me?

Meeting place is Hankyu Ashiyagawa station exit at 10:30.
Hike up to Rock Garden, have lunch and go down. Walking time
is 3-4 hours. If we still have energy, we may go to Higashi-Otafukuyama.

If you join, please let me know. I may change the schedule at
the last minute.

Bring: lunch and rain gear

IOC Monthly Meeting & Hiking event on Nov, 11th (Sat)

Hi all!
Here is a small note about Atago hike/meeting on Nov.11th. If you want to take Torroko train( sight-seeing train) , from Hozukyou to Arashiyama, please don't forget sighing up before Nov. 4th!! As I told you before, I need a reservation, beforehand.

Now, more details about IOC Atago hike/meeting are settled.

Meeting time/place;  9:00 on Nov. 11th /JR Kyoto st. central exit( it is on the first floor)

Rough plan; 1.Take Kyoto bus that goes to Kiyotaki at 9:20 ( fee:270 yen)
                  2.Arrive in Kiyotaki around 10:10
                  3.Hike in Atago mountain and hold IOC meeting
                  4.Arrive  in Hozukyou at 16:00 or so
                  5.Take Torokko train( sight-seeing train) from Torokko Hozukyou st. to Torokko Arashiyama st.( fee: 600yen), if I can reserve seats for everybody.
                    If not, we just take JR.
                  6. Arrive Arashiyama and enjoy great scenery

Bring;Hiking outfit, Hiking shoes,Rain gear,Lunch,Snacks,Drinks,
­Cost; Trans. fee and personal expenses

To take Torokko train, we have to reserve our seats in advance. So, please send your e-mail to me before Nov. 4th, if you'll join this event. Then, I will try to get our seats.

If it rains , we will cancel this event.

Cycle to Nara and Kasaki(Kyoto), Nov.19th(Sun)

Come and experience the beautiful autumn colours of the Enjyoji temple (lunch).
We'll be taking the 08:22 train from JR Osaka to JR Nara 09:11.
From Nara we'll ride up the historic area, explore Nara park and eventually head for Kasaki.  Depending on time and weather, we can then do some easy cycling around the Nara area.  Don't forget to bring your camera!
We'll be backing the 18:33 train from JR Kasaki to JR Osaka 19:56 after Onsen.

Bring a helmet, puncture repair kit or spare inner tube, lunch, snacks and appropriate clothing, Onsen Kit. Remember countryside temperatures are several degrees lower than in the city.

        Kasaki - Osaka 1110yen

Mt. Takatori hike, Nara on Nov. 25th (Sat)

Hi everyone,

I’ll lead a Mt. Takatori hike for autumn leaf viewing. Mt. Takatori is situated in Asuka, Nara. There was a castle at the top of the mountain although only the castle walls are  left nowadays. If we are lucky, we’ll see colorful autumn leaves.

Even if we are unable to see autumn leaves in season, we’ll surely have a good time because the trail is beautiful.

One star hiking event
Date: Nov. 25 (sat)
Course: Kintetsu Tsubosakayama Station – Sabou park - Mt. Takatori (584M) - Tsubosaka temple - Kintetsu Tsubosakayama Station.
If we have enough time, we’ll look around Tsubosaka temple.
Walking time : 3-4 hours (approx)

*Bring:  Hiking shoes, Rain gear, Lunch, Snacks, Drinks 
*Meeting time and place:  We'll meet up at 10:15 at
the ticket gate of Kintetsu Tsubosakayama station.
I will take the train that leaves from Kintetsu OsakaAbenobashi st. at
9:20 and arrives at Tsubosakayama st. at 10:07.
*Cost : Transportation plus Tsubosaka temple entrance 600
If it rains, I will cancel the event.
