Norikura and Kamikouchi, Oct. 6th - 9th

Hi all,

I have the event of Norikura and Kamikouchi on October 6th - 9th. We have hiking and cycling there. I will decide the details, when I know some situation(Paticipants, Bikes, etc)

If you would like to join this event, please let me know. Please let me know if you have a bike or not. Depending on car, we will use rental bikes. If it rains, this event will be cancelled.

<Schedule>­;
We leave Kansai at night on 6th.
We enjoy Kengamine(3,026m) hiking(or cycling) on 7th.
Depending on situations, we go to Kengamine by bus.
After that, we will enjoy on the plteau Norikura by walking or cycling.
We stay at Ichinose camp site with tents.
On 8th, we go to Kamikouchi by bike.
We will stay there with tent.
On 9th, We go back to Kansai.

Deadline : September 16th
Bring : Trekking boots, Rainwear, Bike(if you have), Helmet, Gloves, Tent(if you have), Onsen kit Cost : About 15,000 - 18,000yen

Hakusan Hiking, Oct 6th - 8th

Hi all,

Hakusan (2684m) is one of the well known mountains in Japan. It's located on the boundary of 4 prefectures, Ishikawa Fukui Gifu and Toyama. Since a long time ago, people have hiked up this mountain as a religious mountain. There's a shrine on the top.

The view from the top which overlooks the Japan Alps is very impressive and also, you can enjoy gorgeous autumn leaves in this season.

Here's the rough plan.
10/6: Leave JR Sannomiya at 9:00pm by a car
        Arrive Ichinose around 2am, take a nap
10/7: Hike to MinamiRyuGaBanba camp site via Betsusan
10/8: Hike to Hakusan and go down to Ichinose

The hike itself is not so difficult but at least you need some exprience of hiking and ablity to walk for 7-8 hours with a backpack.

Bring: camp set, food and drinks for 2 days.
Cost: 5000-10000 yen

The limit of this event is 4 people.

When you sigh up, let me know if you can use your car and tent for this event.

Mt. Kitadake Hiking/Camping, Oct 7th - 8or 9th

Mt. Kitadake (3,192 m) Hiking/Camping Weekend

If you are still looking for something to do on the 3-day weekend in October, why not join this trip to Kitadake ... Japan's second highest peak?

Dept. Friday night 6th October
Drive to the Southern Japan Alps in Nagano-ken Rest at Hirogawara (about 1500m) until morning

Saturday (7th) 6-hour hike up about 1500 m  to a campsite (at 3,000m) just below the summit of Mt. Kitadake. Pitch camp and if the weather is good and we still have energy, we will be able to climb to the summit and back to camp in time for dinner.  If not, then we will climb to the summit in the morning. Even from the campsite, views should be spectacular!

Sunday (8th) - we will be up very early, hopefully to watch the sun rise over Mt. Fuji .... See the photo at:

Then we will follow a circular route over Kitadake and back down to Hirogawara, where we could either camp another night or begin the drive back to Kansai.

To participate in this trip you need to have some experience of camping and of carrying a pack containing tent and food.
You also need to have your own backpack (at least 60 litre) sleeping bag, mat and Gortex clothing. If in doubt, please ask Estella.

Syakushikoba no Kashira hike, Mt. Hira Shiga on Oct. 9th

Hi All,

I am planning to go on a Hira hike with one of my friends, who is an experienced hiker and knows very well about the Hira mountain range. If you can join us, you are very welcome. The details are as follows.

Level : Two star
Date: Oct. 9 (mon) national holiday

Course (Rough plan): JR Shiga station --> Arakawa pass --> Minami Hira pass  ---> Ohashi -->Syakushi koba no Kashira(1,121m) &#12288;** Then, go down to JR Shiga station. Hours: 8 hours(approx) at a good pace
** If all of us have energy and time is allowed, we may head to Bunaga take(the highest summit in the Mt. Hira Range).

Brings:  Hiking outfit( long pants and sturdy hiking boots are recommended), Rain gear, Lunch, Snacks, Drinks(at least 1.5 Ltr), Head lump(for a safety sake)

Cost: only transportation

Meeting time and place: Please take the below-menitoned train. We will meet up at the front car of the train.
JR Kosei line Shinkaisoku train that departs from JR Sannomiya at 7:20 am, JR Osaka at 7:45, JR Kyoto at 8:15 and arrives at JR Shiga station at 8:42 am. Please don’t miss the train.  We can’t be late as the hike course is long.

IOC Autumn Camp, Oct 14th-15th

Hi all,

We are going to have the annual IOC autumn camp!!
Please come out and meet us! Hope to see all of you there:) It would be also a great opportunity for those who are interested in the IOC. Please send Yuri an e-mail to sign up by Oct. 9th.

*If someone wants to stay Friday night, they have to reserve it by themselves.

Place: Oosaka furitus sougou seishounen yagai katudou center.

*We booked 4 rodge at the moment.

Dead line: for sign up is Oct 9th. After October 9th, we’ll ask cancel fee.

*Non-member has to pay before Oct 9th. If they cancel before October 9th, we’ll refund the money deducted bank transfer fee.

Cost: 3000yen for member, 3500yen for non-member. Cancel fee is 1000yen for member, 3500yen for non-member.

Food: Committee prepare, Saturday nights BBQ and Sunday breakfast. Minimum drinks.

Meeting: 10am at Yamashita station(Nose-line).

Soni kogen hike, Nara on Oct. 28th (Sat)

Hi IOC folks,

Yuri & Keiko are planning to go to Soni kogen by car on Oct. 28. If the weather is good, we’ll see shining Japanese pampas grass (Susuki) at sunset. Please take a look at the following web page.

Note: The schedule’ll be flexibly changed. We are willing to receive any suggestion from the participants.
