Skiing/Snowboarding Trip,Hakodate-Yama. Jan.21st-22nd.

After having so much fun last year, I thought a return trip to Hakodateyama would be of interest to many. If you missed out last year you can read about what we got up and see some pictures by clicking on this link:
http://iockansai.com/newsletter/NewsletterMar2005.pdf

And this site will give you weather and other useful info about the resort:
http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/resortdetail.php?resid=173

And finally this website has a map of the slopes (but it’s in Japanese only I’m afraid):
http://www.princehotels.co.jp/ski/hakodateyama/course.html

BASIC PLAN
From Omi-imazu station we will get the bus to the resort, ski/snowboard all day (there is hot food and snacks available at the resort, or you can bring your own lunch), head to minshuku (inn type accommodation) for dinner and drinks, then get some much needed kip before a second day on the slopes.

RAIL/LIFT PASS
If you can’t come for both days it’s close enough to go as a day trip. However, there is little difference in the cost of the one and two day rail/lift passes, so it’s best to pair up with someone else who is only going for the day. Any JR office should be able to give you a blue brochure with 3 snowmen on it with train times and prices.

OTHER INFORMATION
This is a one star event suitable for all abilities. If you’ve never skied/snowboarded before there are lessons available (in Japanese only). If you look at the map you can see there are green, red and black slopes (beginner, intermediate, advanced).

HOW TO SIGN UP
If you’d like to join us, or want more details please email or call Ronan. There is a limit of 15 people for the minshuku so let me know as soon as possible. Also the passes must be booked at least 4 days in advance if you want to take advantage of all the discounts available on ski rental, etc.

MEETING PLACE
We will meet at Omi-imazu station at 8.27am on Saturday 21st January or on the first carriage of the train. You should take the shinkaisoku (limited express) from your nearest JR station. This is a special train and may not be listed on websites like Jorudan. It leaves from
Sannomiya    at 6.40am
Osaka            at 7.06am
Kyoto            at 7.43am

COST
Approximate costs are:
-7100/6300/4700 - return rail ticket from Kobe/Osaka/Kyoto and lift pass for 2 days.
-6000 Minshuku (includes dinner on Sat and breakfast Sun)
-3000 ski/snowboard and boot rental for 2 days (plus a refundable deposit)
