Events November 2005
2005-11-05 12:00:00 - 2005-11-05 18:00:00 | Hiking *Uji hike, Saturday Nov 5th
As there’s another event on November Sunday 6th (Quiz Rally), we (Junko, the coleader and I) decided to change the date of the Uji hike to Saturday 5th.------------------------------------------
Let’s have a lazy day around the nice city of Uji! The hike will be very easy. So everybody is welcome.
Starting from Uji station (Keihan line), we will first climb a small hill up to the city (nice view from there), walked down on the other side though a pretty bamboo forest. A small road in the Japanese countryside will lead us to a magnificent view on Amagase dam. From there, we can have a walk in the Amagase Shinrin park and climb one of the highest mountains in Uji city (at least 300m high!!). We will walk down to the dam and along the nice Shizugawa river where we plan to have a great barbecue (maybe the last of the year!) if the weather is fine, and enjoy the famous green tea "ice-cream" (I personally don’t like it but some Japanese are fond of it!...). If it’s getting a little bit too wet, we can have dinner together at my place.
Bring:
sunscreen (if sunny), raincoat (if rainy)
Meet:
12:30pm at Uji station on the Keihan Line (Uji line from Chushojima). For people from Osaka or Kyoto, take the Keihan line till Chushojima and change to the Uji line till terminus. For people from Nara, it may be better to take the JR line till Uji and walk 10mn to the North. Keihan Uji station is located just after the bridge.
Ps: For those who’d like to visit Byodoin temple (on the 10 yens coin), please come earlier in the morning for the visit (the temple is 5mn walk from Uji station).
Cost: train to go to Uji (?) + something like 1500 yens for the barbecue-dinner.

Saka-gura (sake brewery) walk Sat Nov. 26 (Canceled)
For reasons of my own, this event is canceled. Sorry.
Yoshimi
-------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
Kobe's Nada area is quite famous for Japanese sake brewing. It has a number of breweries which have a free tour and tasting!
Since those breweries spread in the area, we can enjoy walking and tasting together.
Let's meet at Hanshin line Uozaki station at 13:30.
After the walk I plan to go to a sento (public bath) and a Yakitori restaurant for dinner.
If you are interested, please contact me by e-mail.
