Our monthly meeting, Saturday, May 8th, is soon approaching! This month, Rolf Schlunze will be giving a presentation on “An Introduction To Mountain Biking In Japan.” If you’ve thought about trying mountain biking here, but weren’t sure how to do it or where to go, you won’t want to miss this. His presentation will be linked to a beginners mountain bike ride on Sunday, May 9th, led by Rolf.In addition, Lars, the cyberman himself, will be officially launching the new IOC website (www.kioc.org), and he will be giving a short multi-media presentation on the use and new features of the site.
We’ll also have an update for all of the upcoming May IOC events, followed by a special IOC expedition to “Belgian Beer Café Barrel,” led by our very own Yugo Osano after the meeting.
The meeting starts at 6:30pm (6:00pm for new members), and just a reminder, if you haven’t already paid your annual dues, please pay them at the meeting. Hope to see you all there!

Try Belgian Beer, May 8th (After The IOC Monthly Meeting)
In the last event I was glad to know that there are a couple of beer fanatics in IOC!I am planning a Belgium beer party after the next meeting May 8th. Since some of Belgium beer are fruit-flavored, we recommend them also to those who are weak in bitter taste of ordinary beers. Nondrinkers are also welcome (foods are looking nice too!).
See the homepage: http://www.gurumet.net/shop.cgi?hyouji_ken=10&id=bel-barrel
The restaurant is near Yodoyabashi station. (just a few minutes from Umeda by Midosuji line)
I'd like you to send me a quick email if you are interested, so that I can roughly know the number of people coming to make a reservation.
Let's say Kanpai!

Yoshino-Koyasan Cycle Trip, May 22-23
Let's enjoy the fresh spring air and the challenge of a couple of steep climbs as we make our way along several gorgeous rivers approx. 60 km each day, A lot of fun smooth cruising but each day at least one steepclimb to about 1000m. Stay at an auto camp site overlooking the very beautiful Tenkawa river. Sleep in cabins, cook dinner ourselves. Onsen nearby. Our route will be as follows: Kintetsu Tsubosakayama station--Yoshino--Koyasan--JR Hashimoto station.

Mukugawa / Shukugawa easy cycling
So often, we go far by trains to spectacular locations around Kansai region. Why not - for a change - ride some of the beautiful paths in our own "back yard" ?This saturday afternoon, from 13.00 - if the weather allows so - I'm going to ride up along the Mukugawa river, pass Kabutoyama and down Shukugawa river - I'll continue down to Shin-Nishinomiya Yacht Harbor, and ride the coast line to Ashiya where there is a secluded and often deserted beach.
Very easy cycling, mostly flat only climbing maybe 300m at Kabutoyama. Distance around 50km. This ride is suitable for just about anyone.
