2004-11-06 09:00:00 - 2004-11-06 18:00:00 | Hiking **Buna GaTake Dayhike, Saturday, November 6th
We'll day-hike from the western shore of Lake Biwa (about 70 m above sea level) up to Buna-ga-take (about 1200 m above sea level), the highest peak of Mt. Hira. If the weather is clear, there'll be great views of Lake Biwaand the wilderness of Shiga and Kyoto prefectures. If the weather ain't clear, then we'll see seas and rivers of clouds below us, which often flow across this mountain and cloak it in mystery. We might get to see some autumn colors as well. In all, it'll be a somewhat strenuous dayhike, but
we'll meet early enough to give us plenty of time. That way, the trip will still be okay for beginners, as long as you're in shape! The map says the hike should take 6-8 hours, depending on which course we opt to take.

Meet: JR Hira Station by 9am. This is on the JR KoSei line, but there are some ToKai ShinKaiSoku trains which run strait from Kobe-Osaka-Kyoto up to Hira. I will board the ShinKaiSoku at Kobe Station at 7:20am. This
ShinKaiSoku makes stops in Osaka and Kyoto, and then drops us off at Hira station at 8:42am. Be careful with the ShinKaiSoku trains, though, as only one each hour goes up the KoSei Line. The others all take the BiwaKo
Line (east side of the lake), so if you're on one of those, you'll have to transfer to a KoSei train at either Kyoto or YamaShina (more convenient) stations.

Cycle to Nabari and Muroji, Sunday, Nov. 14th
Come and experience the beautiful autumn colours of the Shorenji gorge and Muroji temple. We'll be taking the 08:35 train from Uehonmachi in Osaka to Nabari. If you're coming on the JR loopline you can pick up this train at 08:37 at Tsuruhashi. Please get on the train whether you can see any other cyclists or not.
From Nabari we'll ride up the spectacular Shorenji gorge, explore Soni mura and eventually head for Muroji. Depending on time and weather, we can then
do some easy cycling around the Haibara area. Don't forget to bring your
camera!
Bring a helmet, puncture repair kit or spare inner tube, snacks and appropriate clothing. Remember countryside temperatures are several degrees
lower than in the city.

Nara & Mie Cycle, Nov 14th
Hi all, I'm planning a cycle to see the autumn colours to Muroji, Akame and Soni in Nara and Mie prefectures on Sunday November 14th. This'll be a 2-2.5 star ride. The train line is always close by, so it'll be easy to make a longer route and a shorter route for two groups if peoplewant.
Let me know if you'd like to come along.

IOC 3-in-1 Kansai Urban Adventure, Sunday, Nov. 14th
Part ITired of going to the grocery store every day to buy a single pack of ramen?
Well, why not join us for a trip to COSTCO where you can buy jumbo quantities of food at a reasonable price. All the food bought and used on the Momoi trip two weekends ago was bought at COSTCO. If you don't think you can eat 10lbs of chicken wings and a gallon of BBQ sauce in one sitting, or are like me and simply don't have the fridge/freezer space invite a friend to come with you and go half-zies. Lots of North American brand foods and other goods available!
Part II
After shopping to your stomachs content why not work up an
appetite and join us for a few games at Round 1. So what if you say you can't bowl or have never broken a 50 in your life. We don't care, we can't bowl all that well either (or maybe we can). Just come on out, get some exercise and maybe win a free prize. Besides, what else are you going to do on a Sunday afternoon?
Part III
Having worked up an appetite bowling we will make our way for something to eat
Depending on the numbers we might go to an all you can eat sushi restaurant or find something else to satisfy the pallet (The Outback perhaps).
What a way to finish off a relaxing day.

Tarumi Outlet Mall Adventure, Tuesday, Nov. 23rd
Coming soon, a once in a lifetime opportunity to have Eric show you around the wonderful town of Tarumi. Or perhaps more accurately why not join me as I makemy (almost) monthly trip to the outlet mall. If you need an excuse to go you can always tell yourself that you are going Christmas shopping. This is a great opportunity to stock up on your outdoor gear and find lots of bargains on shoes and women`s fashions. Because it is an outlet mall you never know what you might find as styles, colors and sizes change constantly. What doesn`t change is the fact that there are always sales and money to be saved (and spent). There are more than 50 stores to shop from including Columbia Sportswear (my favorite), Timberland, Eddie Bauer, Adidas, Nike, Mont Bell, Levis, Edwin and many others.
