Bunagatake hike and camp

Meet Hira JR station (Shiga) at 10:00 am on Sunday, July 20th.

We'll hike up to Bunagadake and then back down to the old ski-jo in a circular route. Camp and then hike back down to Hira the next day.

Participants need to bring the following:

Tent/Bivy bag/Hammock
Sleeping bag
Stove, pans and fuel
Food and water for 2 days (There is a water source nearby, but it may require filtering/boiling)
Rain gear, warm clothing, sunglasses, etc. Don't forget a hat and gloves for the evening. No cotton!
Head lamp/Torch
Toilet paper (This is a wild camp after all)
Mosquito repellant might be needed.
Small personal first aid kit.

If anybody needs to borrow a tent or doesn't have a stove or any other equipment, let me know and we can book some of the club stuff or share appropriately.

Cost: Wild camping is free (there are no facilities the last time I checked - I have a very nice folding shovel that you can borrow for free).

If enough people want to club together to buy food, then maybe we can arrange something.

Rating: 2 stars because of the requirement for self-sufficiency, and the lack of facilities.
Members only.

No sign-up date, but those without sufficient clothing/equipment or ill-prepared will be turned away. Please let me know as far in advance as possible if you will join the event as we will leave shortly after meeting at 10:00 am: We won't wait if you haven't told me that you're coming. If the weather forecast is absolutely horrendous (e.g. storm/typhoon/blizzard/earthquake/godzilla/all the above) I will post a cancellation notice the day before, otherwise this will go ahead whatever the weather.

Please note that this event, like all IOC events, is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

In joining the IOC or in taking part in its activities, I understand that
1. Many activities are dangerous.
2. I alone will take full responsibility for my own safety at or as a result of IOC activities.
3. Activity organizers and committee members are lay persons and have no formal skills in relation to the organized activity, and in following their guidance, I do so at my own risk.
4. I alone am responsible for assessing in advance all the risks pertaining to activities ( including my own abilities ) and in accepting information from activity organizers or committee members, I do so on the understanding that I must verify it for myself.
5. The IOC is not covered by any general insurance policy against the loss of personal effects, injury or death, nor does it undertake to arrange such insurance for specific events.
6. Participants take part at their own risk and are very strongly recommended to take out appropriate insurance of their own.
7. I understand that I must be at least twenty years old to join the IOC.
